God’s Promise Clock 1 A.M.

ETERNAL LIFE

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal lifeJn 3:16

We are born into this life, dead in sin Eph 2:1, following the ways of this world of which Satan is the ruler Eph 2:2, gratifying the cravings of our flesh, and following its desires and thoughts. Like everyone else, we deserve God’s judgment Eph 2:3.

The spider web is an appropriate image for lost man’s dilemma. When unaware of his plight, he happily enjoys his entanglement in the world. However, when man’s soul awakens with the need to find God, he strives to enter on his own strength but cannot break Satan’s fleshly sinful threads. There is only “One” way to enter the kingdom of God and that is through Jesus, who calls to those that have ears “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me” Mk 8:34. By denying our flesh (repenting and humbling ourselves), agreeing with God that we are sinners deserving death, we receive Christ’s forgiveness 1 Jn 1:9 and His Holy Spirit, with the power Ro 8:11 to begin to live for Him Ro 6:11.

VERSE 1

WHEN YOUR WALKING DOWN LIFE’S ROAD

AND WONDERING THE BEST WAY TO GO

WITH A LITTLE PRAYER

GOD WILL TAKE YOU THERE

HIS WORD WILL LIGHT YOUR WAY

BUT IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY

DON’T BE AFRAID

HE WALKS BESIDE YOU EVERY DAY

COMMENTARY

There came a time in my life when I asked myself, “What is life all about?” So, I decided to seek out that answer. God revealed Himself to me at university, when a young hippie evangelist came to our school residence and shared the Gospel. I finally found my purpose to make life meaningful. Through the years, God’s Holy Spirit and Word have molded me into the person I am today.

In the beginning, I did not know how to talk with God, but He has always been there, every day, to help me with whatever problem arose.

CHORUS

COME ON MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION

DON’T YOU WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN

HE’LL TAKE YOU THERE

HE’LL TAKE THERE (2X)

I made the right decision and have never regretted it. The benefits are unbelievable, not only in this life but in the next one too. Jesus gave me peace, purpose, value and love for others.
VERSE 2

WHEN YOU’RE FEELING ALL ALONE

WHEN YOUR WORRIES HIT LIKE STONES

GOD’S LOVE CAN HEAL

HE KNOWS JUST HOW YOU FEEL

AND IF YOU HAVE AN ACHING HEART

HE MENDS EVERY BROKEN PART

TO LIFT YOUR SOUL

AND MAKE YOU WHOLE

Losing my wife Julia to cancer was the biggest trial of my life. I know what Heman, the psalmist of Psalm 88 meant when he said “darkness is my closest friend” Ps 88:18.

After feeling God did not understand or care about my loneliness, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that Jesus was also separated from His Father at the cross, the first time since eternity Mt 27:46.   His trial humbled me and healed my broken heart.

CHORUS
VERSE 3

WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT GOD HAS DONE

HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON

SO BELIEVE IN HIM

HE’LL TAKE AWAY YOUR SINS

AND YOU WILL FIND A BRAND NEW LIFE

LIKE MORNING BREAKING AFTER NIGHT

AND SEE WHAT GOD HAS MADE

DON’T YOU KNOW THERE‘S NO OTHER WAY

God has shown me how much He loves me by sending His righteous Son to die for my sins. So I put my trust in Jesus, that my sins were washed away, and started living a new life for God rather than for myself.

The days got brighter as I learned more and more about God’s Word and His plan for my life. There is no other life than the one Jesus offers us.

BRIDGE

WALKING, WALKING DOWN THE ROAD

YOU DON’T HAVE TO WALK ALONE

WALKING, WALKING DOWN THAT ROAD

YOU DON’T HAVE TO WALK ALONE

During this life, I have had my share of trials but I never had to handle them alone for Jesus has fulfilled His promise that He’ll never leave or forsake me Heb 13:5.
VERSE 2 REPEAT
CHORUS

OH COME ON MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION

AH DON’T YOU WANNA GO

DON’T YOU, DON’T YOU WANNA GO

I pray that you will give Jesus the chance to prove that He is who He says He is. Don’t you wanna go?

WATER TO BLOOD vs WATER TO WINE

Ex 7; Jn 2.

WATER TO BLOOD

The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.’ Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels of wood and stone.” Ex 7:19 Blood in the Bible symbolizes “judgment”.

In Ex 7:19 God was going to judge the Egyptians for not giving the Israelites their freedom.

A stone jar symbolized a lifeless vessel. When the natural water was changed to blood it symbolized that the people of Egypt were being judged.

WATER TO WINE

1On the third day a wedding took place at Cana…

6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.

He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

The third day symbolizes “resurrection” while a wedding symbolizes a “celebration”.

Water to wine pictures the “new birth” of a natural man becoming a spiritual child of God, a resurrection celebration.

Six represents “man” while stone water jars symbolizes a body “without spiritual life” but constantly filled with natural life.

We need to do whatever God tells us to do. We have the privilege of participating with God in leading individuals to salvation. So when God says “fill the jars with water… to the brim”, we want to meet others’ needs, doing kindnesses and eventually sharing the Good News.

This is where the miracle occurs as the Holy Spirit changes natural man into a new creature in Christ.

The world does not realize how a sinner is changed by the power of God, although they see the changes in the individual Jn 3:8.

The world always presents their best first, trying to impress others but after they have gotten what they want from these people, then their real character is revealed which acknowledges the cheap wine.

For Christians we are to serve the best wine at all times Col 3:23; 1 Co 10:31.

Blood = Death/Forgiveness                     Water = Resurrection/Life
