Temple of the LORD

11. 1 KINGS

Temple of the LORD: Holy one. 1 Ki 8:10; Jn 2:19.

The temple was God’s meeting place with His people. His Shekinah glory appeared from time to time in the form of a cloud 1 Ki 8:10; 2 Chr 5:14. Jesus came to reveal the invisible Father by taking on human flesh Jn 1:14. He unveiled this same glory, not in the form of a cloud but housed in flesh and blood. When the Jews questioned Jesus’ authority to overturn the money tables Jn 2:18, He responded by saying, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days” Jn 2:19. He wasn’t referring to the temple building but His body Jn 2:21. He did not do anything on His own but only what His Father commanded Him to do Jn 5:19. There won’t be a physical temple in New Jerusalem for the Father and the Lamb will be the temple Rev 21:22. Presently, God the Holy Spirit resides inside our temples 2 Co 6:16. Jesus prayed that we would be one with God Jn 17:21.

Jn 2:19; 1 Co 6:19; 1 Co 1:30; 1 Co 6:17; Jn 4:24; rev 21:22; Rev 3:12 NASB.
