Verse 1

The man who is clean is to sprinkle those who are unclean on the third and seventh days, and on the seventh day he is to purify them. Those who are being cleansed must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and that evening they will be clean. Nu 19:19

After touching a dead person or a human bone or grave, these people would be unclean and a clean man would need to sprinkle water to purify them. Those being cleansed would also have to wash their clothes and bathe to be clean, if they didn’t they would be cut off from the community.

Verse 2

Now suppose they marry men from other Israelite tribes; then their inheritance will be taken from our ancestral inheritance and added to that of the tribe they marry into. And so part of the inheritance allotted to us will be taken away. Nu 36:3

Zelophehad had no sons, so when he died the inheritance was to go to his daughters. The question posed by the Manasseh tribe was if the daughters married outside their tribe, then the Manasseh tribe’s inheritance would be lost to another tribe. God’s solution was that they had to marry within their father’s tribal clan.

Verse 3

“Go and tell Hananiah, ‘This is what the Lord says: You have broken a wooden yoke, but in its place you will get a yoke of iron. Jer 28:13

Hananiah was a false prophet who took the wooden yoke off Jeremiah’s neck and broke it to demonstrate that God would deliver Israel from the Babylonians. God’s response was that He would replace the wooden yoke with a much stronger one of iron, declaring that Nebuchadnezzar’s rule over the nations would be mighty.

Sound from Heaven:  God is sovereign and His rules are to be obeyed.

If an unclean person ignored God’s steps to become clean, he would be cut off from the community. God’s land allotment to each tribe was not to be altered. A false prophesy would cost Hananiah his life.

He placed the Sea on the south side, at the southeast corner. 2 Chr 4:10

The Bronze Sea represented judgment and cleansing from sin, called a sea because of the large amount of water it contained (size of a living room). It representing the forgiveness that Jesus provided. Comparing the Temple’s geographical location to the earth, we would discover that the Bronze Altar which represented Jesus’ sacrifice would be located at Golgotha 31° N Latitude. Going westward to the Bronze Sea which symbolized the cleansing we receive from the blood of Jesus would be the Mediterranean Sea 30o – 45o N Latitude. To reach the Holy of Holies which represented the Presence of God would be Mount Everest at 28° N Latitude, the highest point on earth.

Mountains were considered high places. Thus they were used for religious purposes, both for God and pagan rituals.

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Mic 4:1

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore. Ps 125:2

After David’s victory, Israel felt unappreciative by the tribe of Judah eventually leading to civil war and dividing the nation in two.

Above one’s own family is God’s family and our allegiance must be to God alone.

Sound from Heaven: Be faithful to God and do good

No matter, how evil it is where we are living, do good to all, but above all, remain loyal to God alone. Canada is becoming very communistic, yet we must continue to do good to all and remain faithful to God and His Word.

Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong—not so that people will see that we have stood the test but so that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. 2 Co 13:7
