LORD YOU LOVED ME
SWEET LORD YOU LOVED ME
YES YOU LOVED ME ALL MY DAYS
LORD YOU LOVED ME
WHY I DON’T KNOW BUT YOU LOVED ME
YES YOU LOVED ME ALL MY DAYS
WHEN I WAS WALKING DOWN THE WRONG ROAD
AND WHEN I WAS CARRYING THAT HEAVY LOAD
WHEN I WAS FAR FROM YOUR SIGHT AS I COULD BE
YOU NEVER ONCE FORGOT YOUR CHILD
YOU NEVER ONCE TURNED AWAY
OH LORD, YOU HELD ON TO ME
YA LORD YOU LOVED ME
SWEET LORD YOU LOVED ME
YES YOU LOVED ME ALL MY DAYS
LORD YOU LOVED ME
DON’T KNOW WHY BUT YOU LOVED ME
YES YOU LOVED ME ALL MY DAYS
WHEN THE WORLD HAD BOUGHT MY MIND
WHEN MY HEART WAS FAR FROM KIND
WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING GOOD INSIDE ME
YOU DREW ME TO YOUR SIDE
BOUGHT MY FREEDOM WITH A HEAVY PRICE
OH LORD I WAS SO PRECIOUS TO THEE
LORD YOU LOVED ME
SWEET LORD YOU LOVED ME
YES, AH YOU LOVED ME ALL MY DAYS
LORD YOU, YOU LOVED ME
DON’T KNOW WHY BUT YOU LOVED ME
YES YOU LOVED ME, ALL OF, ALL OF MY DAYS
The Prodigal Son story (Lk 15:11-32) is a wonderful picture of the love of God the Father. The younger son was very disrespectful as he asked for his share of the Father’s estate to spend on wild living. But after squandering all his resources and in need because of a severe famine, he came to his senses (Lk 15:17). The son repented of his sin and went back home to find out if his father would take him back as a hired servant. The father eagerly waited for his son’s return and when he spotted him, ran to hug and kiss him (Lk 15:20). He not only accepted him back as a son but gave him a robe, ring, sandals and a huge feast to celebrate his return.
God the Father desires none to be lost (2 Pe 3:9) and waits patiently for us to return to Him. After we come to our senses by realizing that the world is not our friend and having had enough of our sinful lifestyle, we turn from our sins and place our trust in Jesus. Then the Father clothes us in Christ’s righteousness, places an eternal ring on our finger (His pledge for us to become Christ’s bride), and gives us shoes of peace (Eph 6:15) to go into all the world and preach the Good News to the lost (Ro 10:15). In the future, we will participate in the Wedding Supper to consummate our marriage to the Lamb (Rev 19:6-9).
