IT’S THE MERCY OF GOD THAT I AM ALIVE TODAY
IT’S THE MERCY OF GOD THAT HE DREW ME TO HIS WAY
IT’S THE MERCY OF GOD THAT I AM WHO I AM
IT’S THE MERCY OF GOD THAT I’M NO LONGER DAMNED
LIFT ME HIGHER PRECIOUS LORD
TO THE HEAVENS LET ME FLY
FREE AT LAST I WILL SOAR
NOW EVERYDAY I LOVE YOU MORE
IT’S THE HEART OF GOD THAT SHOWS ME HOW TO LIVE
IT’S THE HEART OF GOD THAT LOVED BEFORE I LOVED HIM
IT’S THE HEART OF GOD THAT SEEN IN HIS SON
IT’S THE HEART OF GOD THAT WAITS AND SUFFERS LONG
CHORUS
IT’S THE JUSTICE OF GOD THAT WE ARE CALLED TO REPENT
IT’S THE JUSTICE OF GOD WHY JESUS CHRIST WAS SENT
IT’S THE JUSTICE OF GOD THAT A DAY OF JUDGMENT WILL COME
IT’S THE JUSTICE OF GOD THAT WE MUST ANSWER EACH AND EVERYONE
CHORUS 2X
God’s holiness demanded justice but God’s love provided mercy through the death of His Son. Your present life is on middle ground right now. If you don’t accept God’s mercy, then your best life will be now, for Hell is your future. If you receive God’s love then your best life is yet to be in heaven.
KISSES and LOVE
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—
for your love is more delightful than wine. SS 1:2
What are the kisses of Jesus’ mouth?
God’s promises are the kisses of Jesus’ mouth. SS 5:16.
When you feel abandoned, the kiss of Jesus is felt in His words, “I will never leave you” Heb 13:5.
When you feel lonely, the kiss of Jesus is felt in His words, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age” Mt 28:20.
When you feel no one cares for you, the kiss of Jesus is felt in His words, “Cast your cares on Me, for I care for you” 1 Pe 5:7
When you feel unloved, the kiss of Jesus is felt in His words, “nothing can separate you from My love” Ro 8:39.
The Greek language uses four words to distinguish different kinds of love.
1. Eros a physical, romantic and passionate love SS 1:2 which God endorsed within the marriage bond Gen 1:27,28; Gen 2:24,25; Pr 5:19; 1 Co 7:4,5. However, it is sinful behaviour outside of marriage Ex 20:14. An approved example of this type of love is found in the marriage of Ruth to Boaz Ruth 4:13. A few sinful examples are David and Bathsheba 2 Sa 11:4 and Sampson and Delilah Jdg 16:1.
2. Philia The word “Philadelphia” translated means, city of brotherly love. Therefore, philia love is a brotherly love that one has for another. Paul exhorted believers to greet one another with a holy kiss 1 Th 5:26 as a demonstration of this kind of love. An example of philia love is the love Jonathan had for David 1 Sa 18:1; Mk 12:31. A negative example was assigned to Simon the Pharisee by Jesus for not giving Him a kiss Lk 7:45.
3. Agape this is unconditional love with the motive being love for the other person, best exemplified by Jesus dying for our sins Jn 15:13. In Lk 7:45 Jesus contrasted Simon’s lack of philia love with Mary’s agape gestures—spending the expensive perfume on Jesus Lk 7:46 and kissing His feet.
4. Storge familial love between parents and children and between siblings. It is an unbalanced love of parents to assure proper nurturing of children and sometimes children caring for their elderly parents or an older sibling protecting his or her younger ones. The best example was Jesus’ love for His mother demonstrated at the cross when He assigned the responsibility of caring for Mary to John Jn 19:26,27. Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi exhibited storge love Ruth 1:16.
