MY HEART REJOICES AND BEGINS TO SING
WHAT A WONDROUS GOD, WHAT A WONDROUS SIGHT

AS THE NIGHT BIRDS CALL AT THE END OF DAY
AND WITH A WARM BREEZE, TREES BEGIN TO SWAY
WHAT A WONDROUS GOD, WHAT A WONDROUS SIGHT
AS I BEHOLD YOUR POWER AND MIGHT

CHORUS

WHEN I HEAR A NEWBORN BABY CRY

WHAT A WONDROUS GOD, WHAT A WONDROUS SIGHT
AS I BEHOLD YOUR POWER AND MIGHT

CHORUS 3X

Father, thank You for a new day and a new opportunity to please You. You are the most wonderful Artist, Your sunrises are breath-taking but even greater than Your creations is Your love for me. Thank You for the blessings of eternal life Jn 3:16, an everlasting love Ro 8:38,39, eternal worth in my identity as a child of God Jn1:12 and an eternal purpose in completing the good works that You have prepared for me to walk in Eph 2:10.

A WONDROUS GOD

WHEN THE SUN COMES UP

AND THE DAY BEGINS

Ps 113:3

When the sun rises and a new day begins, it is an occasion to acknowledge God’s greatness, offer praise and worship, and marvel at His wonders. Believers are encouraged to approach each day with a heart full of gratitude and a desire to honor God in all aspects of their lives. We praise God for a fresh start Ps 3:5, a new beginning and an opportunity to honor and glorify Him.

MY HEART REJOICES AND BEGINS TO SING

Ps 28:7

We acknowledge the Lord as the source of our strength and protection, and declare trust in Him. The result is a heart that overflows with joy, causing it to leap and sing praises to God.

Rejoicing and singing praises to God is a recurring theme throughout the Bible. It is often associated with gratitude, worship, and the recognition of God’s goodness. Ps 33:1-3; Isa 12:5; Col 3:16.

WHAT A WONDROUS GOD,

WHAT A WONDROUS SIGHT

Ps 8:1

The phrase “What a wondrous God, what a wondrous sight” conveys a sense of amazement and reverence towards God’s divine attributes and the beauty of His creation. It reflects an appreciation for the magnificence and splendor that can be observed in the world around us.

Psalm 8:1 expresses the admiration for God’s greatness and acknowledges the breathtaking sights that point to His existence and power.

AS I BEHOLD YOUR POWER AND MIGHT

Ps 63:2

The act of beholding signifies more than just seeing; it implies a deep contemplation and observation of God’s attributes. It involves fixing one’s gaze upon God, acknowledging His greatness, and being captivated by His majesty. We have the privilege of witnessing firsthand the manifestation of God’s power and glory.

The power and might of God are often associated with His acts of creation, deliverance, and sovereignty. Throughout the Bible, there are numerous accounts that demonstrate God’s power and might. From parting the Red Sea to raising Jesus from the dead, these displays of divine power leave a lasting impact on those who witness them.

When we behold God’s power and might, it evokes a sense of reverence, humility, and awe within us. It reminds us of our own limitations as human beings and highlights the infinite nature of God. Witnessing His power can inspire us to trust in Him more deeply, knowing that He is capable of accomplishing great things beyond our understanding.

LIKE THE WAVES THAT DANCE UPON THE SHORE

Ps 93:4

Waves represent the continuous movement and rhythm of life, symbolizing both its beauty and unpredictability. Waves also signify change and transformation, as they constantly reshape the shoreline over time. The waves convey a sense of awe and reverence for God’s ability to bring about transformation and renewal in our lives.

Furthermore, waves are often associated with water, which is a recurring symbol in the Bible. Water represents purification, cleansing, and spiritual renewal. Just as waves cleanse and refresh the shore, God’s presence in our lives can bring about spiritual cleansing and renewal.

YOUR RHYTHMS IN THE WIND

AND SO MUCH MORE

Ps 104:3

“Rhythms in the wind” describe God’s presence through His Holy Spirit (Jn 3:8) which can’t be seen but is felt and observed in the patterns and movements of the wind. The wind/Holy Spirit is a powerful force that can be both gentle and fierce, carrying with it various sounds and sensations. By associating these rhythms with God, the lyric emphasizes the awe-inspiring nature of God’s creation and the divine order that permeates throughout.

Furthermore, the phrase “and so much more” indicates that God’s wondrous qualities extend far beyond what can be captured by the metaphor of wind rhythms alone. It implies that there are countless other aspects of God’s existence and attributes that are beyond human comprehension or description. As an example: God is omnipotent (all-powerful) Jer 32:17, omniscient (all-knowing) Ps 147:5, and omnipresent (present everywhere) Ps 139:7-10. These attributes highlight the vastness and incomprehensibility of God’s being.

WHAT A WONDROUS GOD,

WHAT A WONDROUS SIGHT

AS I BEHOLD YOUR POWER AND MIGHT

OH MY GOD, OH MY LORD
YOU ARE MINE AND I AM YOURS

SOS 2:16

This line describes the personal relationship with God that each of us can experience. Believers can call upon God as their Lord and Savior. Psalm 23:1 expresses the idea that God is not only a distant deity but also a personal guide and protector.

OH MY GOD, OH MY LORD
WITH ME TODAY AND FOREVER MORE

Jn 14:16,17

This lyric reflects the promise of God’s presence and faithfulness. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus assures his disciples that God’s presence is not limited to a specific time or place but extends throughout eternity.

AS THE NIGHT BIRDS CALL AT THE END OF DAY
Ps 102:7

The mention of night birds calling at the end of the day signifies a time when darkness falls and silence surrounds them. Ps 102:7 depicts the imagery of a bird calling out in the night, symbolizing loneliness and longing. The comparison of the psalmist to a lonely bird on a housetop emphasizes the feeling of isolation and vulnerability. Just as night birds call out at the end of the day, the psalmist feels restless and unable to find peace.

AND WITH A WARM BREEZE, TREES BEGIN TO SWAY

S of S 4:16

In S of S 4:16 the imagery of the wind blowing upon the garden is a symbol of the Holy Spirit’s presence and work in the believer’s life.

The south wind is commonly associated with warmth and comfort, as it blows from the direction of the equator Lk 12:55. Thus, just as the south wind brings a gentle and comforting breeze, so does the Holy Spirit bring comfort and peace to believers. The Holy Spirit is a source of encouragement, guidance, and strength in times of difficulty or distress.

WHAT A WONDROUS GOD, WHAT A WONDROUS SIGHT
AS I BEHOLD YOUR POWER AND MIGHT

Selah- Pause and reflect on this truth.

WHEN I HEAR A NEWBORN BABY CRY

Ps 139:13,14

The cry of a newborn baby is often considered as one of the first signs of life and serves as a reminder of the miracle of birth.
The sound of a newborn baby’s cry can evoke feelings of awe and wonder, leading us to acknowledge the divine creation and its intricacy.

AND I SEE THE BEAUTY IN YOUR LITTLE CHILD

Mt 18:10

The beauty in a little child goes beyond their physical appearance. It encompasses their innocence, curiosity, and the potential they hold for growth and development. Their wide-eyed gaze and infectious smiles can melt hearts and remind us of the simple joys in life.

Witnessing the power and might behind the creation of life can be humbling and awe-inspiring. It reminds us of how wondrous our God is.
