Julia and I were married for forty-one years. The secret God taught us for a successful marriage was to follow His blueprint created for marriage.
God is a trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In the same way, He created man as a trinity: with a body (our outer shell), soul (our personality), and spirit (our ability to commune with God).
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. Jn 4:24
God also designed marriage on the trinity principle: God, husband and wife.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. Eph 5:31
Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Php 2:2
But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 1 Co 6:17
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 1 Co 11:3
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecc 4:12
The three strands are God, husband and wife.
Gen 2:18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” NIV
Jn 14:16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; NASB
God’s trinity consists of three co-equal spirits but each with a different role. The Father plans, the Son executes the plan, and the Holy Spirit completes the plan.
God’s family trinity consists of three equal types of people (husband, mother, children) but each with a different role. The father is the spiritual leader while the mother is his helper complementing him in the training of the children in God’s ways.
When a husband and a wife deny themselves and place God before their own interests, God’s perfect marriage plan will bless the family and the marriage. God has placed this instinct in parents. That is why a parent would literally die for his/her children or spouse if need be. If you want a happy and fulfilled marriage follow God’s blueprint, you won’t be disappointed.
