(THE) LIVING STONE

MORNING COMES UP WITH THE DAWN

ANOTHER DAY ROLLS BY

SOMETIMES I’M JUST HANGING ON

TILL I SEE A BLUER SKY

LORD YOU SPOKE THE UNIVERSE BEGAN

CREATION OBEYED YOUR VOICE

ON CHRIST THE SOLID ROCK I STAND

IN HIM I WILL REJOICE

FOR YOU ARE THE LIVING STONE

THE FOUNDATION OF MY LIFE

I SHALL NOT STUMBLE OR FALL

FOR YOU ARE MY LIVING STONE

WHEN I SEE THE WONDERS GREAT

THAT YOUR HANDS HAVE MADE

I’M HUMBLED BY YOUR MIGHTY POWER

SO ENDLESSLY DISPLAYED

A SNOWFLAKE FALLS EACH MASTERPIECE

DISAPPEARS WITHOUT A TRACE

YOU MADE THIS WORLD OF GRACE AND BEAUTY

SO WE MIGHT SEE YOUR FACE

CHORUS

MY HEART WAS A COLD DEAD STONE

YOUR SACRIFICE GAVE ME LIFE

I AM YOUR PRECIOUS CHILD

AND HOLY IN YOUR SIGHT

YOU FILL ME DAY BY DAY

MY SPIRIT TO RENEW

SEATED IN THE HEAVENLY REALMS

MY PLACE PREPARED BY YOU

CHORUS 3X

To be poor in spirit means we understand that everything we are has come from God. We are but dust and will return to dust—a creation of God (Gen 3:19). Isa 57:15 explains who God will dwell with to have an intimate relationship—all who humble themselves (Jas 4:6). The proud are always at a distance from God and away from His presence, as Satan discovered when pride was found in his heart (Eze 28:17). But for the poor in spirit, God’s promise is in the present tense, theirs “is” the kingdom of heaven (Mt 5:3). We don’t have to wait until heaven to experience this kind of intimacy, for God promises to dwell with the poor in spirit today and forever (Jn 14:16). So begin today to enjoy His presence forever.

THE PERFECT FIT

We all have different gifts and just as a composer uses different instruments to convey the emotions of his composition, God will use us in a way to accomplish His perfect will. Therefore, we must hear His voice and be obedient to where He places us, and yes, sometimes, He’ll need to chip away a flawed part to make the perfect fit.
