Amos 9 RESTORATION
Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
Amos 9:15
I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God: after God judges Israel for their rebellion He will finally restore them to their land. This finally happened in 1948. God’s promise is that they will never be uprooted from the land which means that the Palestinians hope of removing Israel from the land and destroying the Jews is futile.
Application: there are signs of the end times soon approaching. We should be careful to be focused on the eternal and not the temporal things. God is always faithful to His promises Nu 23:19.

Amos 8 SPIRITUAL BREAD
Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
Amos 8:11
“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord,“ when I will send a famine through the land—not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord: Israel’s rebellion was compared to a ripe basket of fruit which would no longer be of any value, so God will punish them by causing a famine, not a physical but a spiritual famine for the Word of God. The people will find themselves in difficult circumstances searching for a Word from God to deliver them, but will not hear His voice.
Application: The Word of God is our greatest treasure, our comfort during trials and our peace to calm our fearful hearts. Knowing that the end is New Jerusalem rather than eternal separation from God is a comforting thought during these turbulent times.

Amos 7 PLUMB LINE
Monday, June 14, 2021.
Amos 7:8
And the Lord asked me, “What do you see, Amos?” “A plumb line,” I replied. Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer: a plumb line is used to judge the trueness of a wall. God symbolically used it as the Word of God to correct His people—the fallen walls of Jerusalem. Because they had strayed from the commandments, God would rebuild Israel using judgment to restore their desire to be obedient.
Application: we are God’s living stones and God is building His church using the Word as His plumb line. It is my responsibility to be obedient to what is written in the Bible.

Amos 6 DAY OF JUDGMENT COMING
Sunday, June 13, 2021
Amos 6:12
Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow the sea with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness: the answer to these two proverbs is no. It would be foolishness to waste one’s energy on something doomed to failure, yet Israel had heedlessly opposed God. They had turned His commandments upside down Isa 5:20 and now would experience the Lord’s judgment Amos 6:14.
Application: many today, in government, media, big tech and Hollywood have called good evil and evil good and are controlling the people for selfish gain. However, justice will be administered to all at the Great White Throne and the punishment will be eternal Rev 20:11,12,13,14,15.

Amos 5 JUSTICE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
Saturday, June 12, 2021.
Amos 5:24 Adobe Color: 443736
But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream: Israel had been unfaithful and would be exiled in the future but God pleaded with His people. His message was to live righteous lives and carry out justice to all.
Application: God called Job a righteous man Job 1:8 and desires all of us to live accordingly. Just as a rolling river carries everything along with it, we are to let our righteousness flow and lead the way for sinful man to participate in true life and godliness 2 Pe 1:3.

Amos 4 GOD IS SOVEREIGN
Friday, June 11, 2021.
Amos 4:13
He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth—the Lord God Almighty is his name: Israel had become wicked and turned from the Lord. God reminded the people who He is and that the consequences would be severe judgment. Even past chastisement hadn’t changed Israel’s behavior and therefore they would experience the full wrath of God.
Application: our present world is more wicked than Israel and should expect the sealed judgments of Rev 6 to take place soon. Paul reminded the people that today is the time of salvation as tomorrow may be too late 2 Co 6:2. Repent, while it is still possible!

Amos 3 DISCIPLINE
Thursday, June 10, 2021.
Amos 3:2
You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your sins: A father doesn’t discipline the neighbor’s children, only his own. God has chosen Israel to be His son and thus He will discipline Israel for sins and rebellion against the Lord. Discipline demonstrates true love Heb 12:9,10.
Application: children of God should be grateful that God disciplines us to keep from going astray. I remember as a child earning discipline from my father and later recognizing it helped me to change by rebellious spirit.

Amos 2 JUDGMENT OF GOD’S PEOPLE
Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
Amos 2:7
They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the ground and deny justice to the oppressed. Father and son use the same girl and so profane my holy name: Israel and Judah have disregarded God’s commands. The leaders trample on the poor and deny them justice. Sexual immorality is rampant, even amongst family members. Despite God’s deliverance from their enemies they still dishonor the Lord and therefore He will crush His people in judgment Amos 2:13.
Application: Our response to the kindness and protection of the Lord should be thanksgiving not rebellion. God will discipline His children if they stray from His goodness for He loves us too much to ignore our sinful behavior Heb 12:11.

Amos 1 JUDGMENT ON ISRAEL’S NEIGHBORS
Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
Amos 1:1
The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa—the vision he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake, when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam son of Jehoash was king of Israel: Amos in a vision saw God judge Israel’s enemies for their wickedness towards His people. God itemized the sins of the different nations and the type of punishment that they would receive.
Application: All our deeds will be exposed in time and each will receive his or her just reward or punishment Ro 2:6. Let us repent of our past sins and put our energy in serving the Lord.
