BAPTISM OF JESUS

Day 3: If God wanted to show us who He really is, would He use only symbols and pictures, or would He give us a real, historical moment?

The baptism of Jesus gives us exactly that: a real divine self-revelation. At the Jordan River we see something extraordinary:

The Son stands in the water and is baptized.

The Holy Spirit descends upon Him in the form of a dove.

The Father speaks from heaven: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Three distinct Persons. Three distinct actions. All happening at the exact same time, in the exact same place. This is not just a symbolic illustration or a nice metaphor. It is a genuine moment when the one true God reveals Himself as three distinct Persons, each doing something different, yet acting in perfect unity. Jesus Himself later commanded His disciples to baptize “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Mt 28:19. He used the singular “name” because there is only one God, yet He included all three Persons because God is three distinct Persons.

God Made You Alive

Application for Today:
The baptism of Jesus is a powerful reminder that God is not distant or hidden. He has revealed Himself clearly as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Because the three Persons of the Trinity are real and distinct, yet perfectly one, you can know that God fully understands you and fully loves you. Take a moment right now and thank God for this beautiful revelation.
