Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” Lk 23:46

What does it mean to be in God’s hands?

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.  I and the Father are one.” Mt 10:28-30

Security. There is no one greater than Jesus and the Father, for they are one.

At death, my body goes into the ground but my spirit goes to God.

And the dust (body) returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. Ecc 12:7

Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord…  We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body (physical death, body in ground) and at home with the Lord (spirit with Lord). 1 Co 5:6,8

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Lk 23:43

I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; Php 1:23

As the body without (separated from) the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. Jas 2:26
